A feature found in many network cards that that support both Ethernet and Fast Ethernet. The feature enables the network card to to automatically detect and support the speed of a a local network by querying other network cards and switches to determine what the network speed and duplex state should be. Autosensing is also used by a number of devices, including hubs and switches. Autosense may also be called auto-detect.
